Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the Minister of Information of Algeria, Mohamed Bu Soleimani, at Presidential Palace in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The Minister conveyed to President Mohamud a message and invitation from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the Arab League Summit, which will be held in Algeria next month.
The next Arab League Summit will be held in Algeria on November 1-2. Arab foreign ministers agreed on the date at their last meeting in Cairo following the postponement of the summit in March.
President Mohamud accepted the invitation, emphasizing the importance of the two governments' relationship and the consensus reached during the two Presidents' meeting in New York last month.
He also expressed "his great joy and pride" in being present in Algeria, mainly because the Arab summit will coincide with the historic anniversary of the Algerian Liberation War's outbreak."
The two presidents' meeting was about diplomatic cooperation and enhancing the relationship between the two countries.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud briefed the delegation on the country's situation and the government's efforts to develop and re-liberate al-Shabab-controlled areas, as well as the drought situation and the government's efforts to restore cooperation and good relations between the two countries.
