Speakers of Somali parliament meet presidential election committee

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somalia's Lower and Upper House speakers on Sunday met with the joint parliamentary committee responsible for organizing the presidential election held in Mogadishu last week.

    Lower House speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe and Upper House speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi commended the committee's efficiency in implementing the election timeline and conducting the presidential election.  

    Hassan Sheikh Mohamud beat Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo in Somalia's presidential election held in Mogadishu on May 15, garnering 214 votes against the latter's 110 votes in the run-off and last round.

    The new President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will officially take over office on Monday
