Sheikh Sharif elected to 11th Parliament in Jowhar

    Mogadishu (HOL) - The former president of Somalia, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, officially became a member of the 11th parliament following an election in Jowhar, the capital of Hirshabelle.

    ‎Sheikh Sharif won the HOP146 seat race on Sunday, which was previously occupied by the internal security minister Abdullahi Mohamed Noor. 

    ‎The seat's election took place in a hands-off manner, and Sheikh Sharif received 101 votes from the delegates.

    ‎Sheikh Sheikh Sheikh Ahmed gave a brief speech at the polling station where he thanked the elected delegates and promised to serve the seat fairly. 

    Sheikh Sharif is a candidate for the presidency of Somalia, which is expected to take place in mid-May.
