Former Director of the Somali National Intelligence and
Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloshe won the election for seat
HOP058 in the Lower House of Somali Parliament on Monday in Beledweyne.
Seven candidates, including former Hirshabelle president Ali
Abdullahi Osoble ran for the seat, but Sanbaloshe was declared the winner after
receiving 54 votes in the first round, eliminating the need for a second round
because he won by a majority.
The result of the election was as follows: Abdullahi Mohamed
Ali Sanbaloshe received 54 votes, former Hirshabelle president Ali Abdullahi
Osoble received 28 votes, Abdulkadir Hussein Olow received 8, Abdullahi Ahmed
Hussein received 5, Mohamed Afduub Makaraan received two votes, Ubah Ali
Sheegow received nothing, and Yonis Mohamed Nur received two votes.
