Thursday March 24, 2022

MOGADISHU (HOL) - The murder of Amino Mohamed Abdi was a politically motivated assassination, former Somali National Security Agency chief Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloshe claimed.

Abdi was among over 30 people killed in two separate suicide bomb explosions which took place in Beledweyn town of central Somalia.

In an interview with VOA, Sanbaloshe has blamed unnamed people for wanting to disrupt ongoing parliamentary elections, saying last night's bombings were aimed at disrupting the upcoming elections in Beledweyne.

"The explosions of last night were intended to assassinate Amino and it was politically motivated,” said Sanbaloshe.

A vocal outgoing female MP Amina and another former MP Abdi Dhuhul were killed in the two suicide attacks in Beletweyne.

Amina was a fierce critic of the Presidency following the disappearance and subsequent death of former female intelligence agent Ikran Tahlil.

The death toll is said to be more than 30 people.
