Dhusamareeb (HOL) - Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation arrived in Dhusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug state, on Thursday as part of his peace caravan tour ahead of his inauguration ceremony next week.
Galmudug president Ahamed Abdi Kaarie Qoor-Qoor, Vice President Ali Dahir Eid and other officials greeted the president at Ugaas Noor airport.
The president stated that his delegation brought a message of peace, reconciliation, and security and emphasized that the federal government would support Galmudug state to eliminate Al Shabaab from the areas under its control.
According to a statement released by Villa Somalia, the president will meet with Galmudug state authorities, community leaders, and youth and women groups and assess the region's worsening drought situation.
Mohamud, who lawmakers elected on the 15th of last month, began his peace caravan tour in Baidoa. He met with state officials and community elders to discuss several topics.
