Baidoa (HOL) - Southwest regional state President Abdiaziz Laftagaren briefed Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre on Wednesday following an Al Shabaab attack in the Bakool region, where militants killed 17 people, including three civilians and Ethiopian soldiers.
Residents told local media that militants raided Yeed and Aato villages.
Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre directed the security and aid agencies to respond quickly to the situation in the Bakool region and said that aid would be sent to the people of Yeed, Washaqo and Aato villages.
Barre promised that the federal government would immediately respond to the problems caused by Al-Shabaab in the Bakool region.
Hudur town, the administrative capital of the Bakool region, has been under al Shabaab siege from al Shabaab since 2012.
