Somali Prime Minister meets US Ambassador to Somalia

    Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre met with US Ambassador to Somalia, Larry Andre, in Mogadishu on Sunday.

    The Ambassador and Prime Minister discussed strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries of Somalia and the United States.

    Hamse Barre thanked the United States for its support to Somalia, saying that his new government will continue to cooperate and focus on securing the country's security.

    The US Ambassador to Somalia, Larry Andre, said that his government was committed to strengthening the relationship between the two countries and supporting the Somali government and state building.

    Last year, the United States announced nearly $199 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the people of Somalia.

    The United States is the single largest provider of humanitarian aid in Somalia.
