Al-Shabab targets Somali government forces in Galmudug
Mogadishu (HOL) - A improvised explosive device hit a Somali military vehicle between Dhusamareb and Eldhere towns on Friday morning.
Two soldiers were reportedly killed, and eight others were injured in the blast, which took place at the Dhusamareb hospital in Galmudug state.
Al-Shabaab militants have claimed responsibility for the attack through their media affiliates, claiming that at least 15 soldiers perished.The Al-Shabab attack comes barely a day after they unsuccessfully tried to seize Bahdo town in the Galgadud region. Residents say they were able to repulse the attack, forcing the Al-Shabab fighters to retreat.
Al-Shabaab carried out a similar landmine explosion in the Eldhere area in early July 2021, killing eight Danab soldiers and wounding three others.
