Mogadishu (HOL)- A small cargo plane carrying khaat from Mogadishu crashed in Abduwak town, Galgadud region, shortly after attempting to land at the airport on Saturday.
The De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 PF was identified by its registration number, 5Y-VVY. The plane was reconfigured into a cargo plane and purchased by Bluebird Aviation in April 2010.
Apart from heavy damage to the plane owned by the Bluebird Company, no casualties were reported from the accident.
According to local authorities, the plane crashed after a hard landing and veered off of the runway.
In July 2020, a seperate De Havilland Canada DHC-8-400 turboprop plane (5Y-VVU) operated by Bluebird Aviation
crashed at Ugas Khalif Airport in Beledweyne.
