Mogadishu (HOL) - The first round of the election of the First Deputy Speaker of
the Somali Lower House parliament concluded on Thursday afternoon.
Mohamed Weli who finished top with 59 votes dropped out of
the race, endorsed Sadia Yassin, while Khadija Mohamed Diiriye, who
finished in the fourth position, also dropped out of the race. However,
MP Mohamed Ali Omar Ana Nuug and MP Sadia Yassin will move to the
run-off election.
Results of the first round of voting:
1. Mohamedweli Abdalle Ahmed: 59 votes
2. Mohamed Ali Omar (Aana-nuug): 58 votes
3. Saadiya Yasin Haji Samatar: 52 votes
4. Khadijo Mohamed Diriye: 21 votes
5. Abdikarin Abdow Hayder: 15 votes
6. Mohamud Abduqadi Haji (Jeego): 12 votes
7. Abdirahman Abdiqadir Adde: 8 votes
8. Said Mohamed Mohamud Hayd: 7 votes.
9. Mohamed Nur Abukar: 5 votes
10. Mohamed Omar Cimow: 4 votes
On the other hand, the first round of the election of the Second Deputy Speaker also concluded, with the incumbent Mahad Abdalla Awad and Abdullahi Omar Abshir moved to the second round of the voting.
