MOGADISHU (HOL) - Prime Minister Mohamed Roble officiated the swearing-in of new Security Minister Abdullahi Mohamed Nur Thursday afternoon following his appointment Wednesday night, even as President Mohamed Farmaajo cried foul over the move.
PM Roble watched on as Mohamed Nur took the oath administered by Minister for Justice Abdikadir Mohamed Nur.
The swearing-in ceremony comes as political temperatures in Mogadishu hit a crescendo.
Farmaajo reacted swiftly on Wednesday night, rejecting the removal of Hassaan Hundubey as ‘illegal and unconstitutional.
Hundubey also lashed out at the PM for his removal, noting the cabinet was on a transition period that forbade such government changes.
Hunduby reacted to the announcement by tweeting, ‘what is going on (at Ministry of Security) is a hijack of transfer.’
Meanwhile, Presidents Ahmed Qoorqoor (Galmudug) and Abdiasis Lafta Gareen arrived in Mogadishu Wednesday morning amid reports they will be seeking to mediate the President and Prime Minister.
