MOGADISHU (HOL) - The Council of Ministers has removed Mohamed Aden Kofi as the director of immigration under unclear circumstances.
A cabinet meeting resolved Sunday to axe Kofi and in his place, appoint Abdulkadir Ali aka Abdul.
"The FGS Council of Ministers has approved the appointment of Abdikadir Elmi Ali (Abdul) as Director of the Immigration and Naturalisation Agency following a proposal from the Ministry of Internal Security and the removal of former Director Mohamed Aden Kofi," government spokesman Mohamed Moalimuu said.
The circumstances surrounding the removal of Kofi remained unclear.
Kofi was appointed to the position in July 2016 having served as the Head of intelligence in Banaadir region.
Meanwhile the cabinet also appointed Eng. Abdulkadir Aden Mohamud as Chairman of the Somali Petroleum Corporation.
