Somali PM convenes meeting with state leaders to review elections agreement

MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somali leaders at the federal and state level will meet on Saturday to review the recently adopted electoral agreement ahead of elections, the office of the Prime Minister has said.

According to a tweet by the Office of the Prime Minister, the meeting convened by Prime Minister Mohamed Roble will evaluate progress since the May 27 Agreement in Mogadishu.

The meeting follows the announcement of a final list of members to the indirect elections teams at the federal and state level by Roble.

The OPM also released on Sunday a Security Plan detailing the various components of the security architecture responsible for the upcoming elections.

The plan tasks the Somali Police Force, AMISOM Police and UN Police with the overall security of elections at federal and regional levels.

According to the May 27 Agreement, 101 delegates will elect one MP meaning 27,775 delegates will elect the 275 MPs.

The FMS parliaments will elect the 64 Senators who, together will together with the 275 MPs elect a new president in a joint session.
