Mogadishu (HOL) - The Council of Presidential Candidates has issued a statement on Monday welcoming the decision by PM Roble to appoint a committee to investigate the condition of Somali troops being trained in Eritrea.
Somali troops have been accused of actively participating in Ethiopia's Tigray offensive, including massacres in Axum.
The parents of Eritrean-trained soldiers have repeatedly called on the Somali government to bring their children back home and elaborate on what they have been doing in Eritrea. The families have been staging protests in Mogadishu and other cities across the country to bring attention to their children's plight.
The statement calls for a speedy and transparent investigation to be completed.
