Mogadishu (HOL) - The Arab League has called on Somalia's political leaders to find an immediate resolution to the electoral impasse in a statement released on Friday.
The regional organization of nearly two dozen members said that they are closely monitoring the political situation in Somalia and urge federal and regional government leaders to reach a comprehensive agreement to end the deadlock.
"Negotiations to resolve the electoral dispute must begin immediately so that Somalia can have a peaceful and credible election," the Arab League said in a statement.
The UN Security Council, the United States, and others in the international community have issued similar calls to end Somalia's political crisis.
Founded in 1945, the Arab League is a loose alliance of 22 independent states in the Middle East and Africa.
