Somali National Army (SNA) officers and soldiers have been promoted for facing off with Al-Shabaab militants.
On Friday, Brigadier General Odowa Yusuf Rageh, Somali Army Chief promoted the officers ‘for showing exemplary courage in the face of deadly Al-Shabaab attacks in the Lower Shabelle region.’
Last week, the army said it had killed more than 100 insurgents in Awdhegle and Bariire.
Somali National Television also reported on Friday that Troops from the 21st Division of the SNA have launched offensive security operation against Al-Shabaab in Galgadud region.
Adding that the forces are advancing to Eel-lahelay, which is a key stronghold of the terrorists.
On April 4, SNA announced it had taken control over the Al-Shabaab strongholds in the south of Dhuusamerab: Sinadhaqo and Labi-Dulle, which were used by the militia to disrupt security operations.
