MOGADISHU (HOL) - Somali military said Monday it killed at least 13 Al-Shabaab militants in the country’s Lower Shabelle region.
Somali National Army commander of the 143th battalion Ahmed Hassan Siyad told the media his men had killed 13 militants in Barire village in the Lower Shabelle region.
The military man said the fighting happened following an operation in the area to flush out Shabaab militants.
He did not however mention any casualties on his side.
Meanwhile reports in Galmudug indicate that Somali forces clashed Monday morning with Al-Shabaab militants.
A convoy carrying the soldiers reportedly hit a landmine in the outskirts of Dhusamareb town leading to the clash.
