NAIROBI (HOL) - Customers of the Somalia based SomBank can now transact at the comfort of their mobile phones thanks to a pact with the banking software giant giant Temenos.
Representatives from SomBank and Temenos today signed a deal that would see the Mogadishu headquartered bank run its banking services on Temenos platform.
According to a statement following the signing of the deal in Nairobi today, the software will enable SomBank to ‘achieve low cost efficiencies and offer lower cost and more accessible financial services to the Somali population’.
“Temenos technology, with its open API architecture, design studios and the vast market place will enable SomBank to to have a true Islamic omnichannel with a verified channel for all financial and no-financial services helping our staff to serve our customers faster both offline and online,” the statement read in part.
Over 3,000 firms across the globe, including 41 of the world’s top 50 banks, rely on Temenos to process the client interactions and daily transactions of more than 500 million banking customers, according to a statement from the company’s website.
