The campaign group said Tuesday it regretted failure by the US military to compensate victims of its air strikes in Somalia which have claimed about a dozen civilian lives according to the rights group.

In its quarterly report Tuesday, the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) admitted 11 civilians killings in Somalia.

Today’s report assessed civilian casualty allegations from 11 incidents, “closes” seven and leaves four open and under review, report read in part.

“ Now that there has been an acknowledgment of their actions, there must be accountability and reparations for the victims and their families,” Brian Castner, the Senior Crisis Advisor for arms and military operations at Amnesty International said.

According to Amnesty, nine of the 42 airstrike this year alone has resulted in 21 civilian deaths and 11 injuries.
