DHUSMREEB (HOL) - Regional state presidents held a closed-door meeting with Prime Minister Hassan Khaire Sunday evening ahead of a joint meeting with President Mohamed Farmaajo Monday.
Sources privy to the meeting told HOL the leaders from Jubbaland, Puntland, South West, Galmudug and HirShabelle engaged with the PM in what sources said was the groundwork for the grand meeting Monday.
President Mohamed Farmaajo arrived in Dhusamareb Saturday where he held talks with Jubbaland President Ahmed Madobe. The meeting was the first in close to two years following faltering of relations between Kismayo and Mogadishu.
Upcoming elections, security and economic development are expected to form the plank of the meeting.
Critical will, however, be an agreement on an alternative electoral model after the polls body NIEC ruled out one-person-one -vote on account of time and preparations.
