MOGADISHU (HOL) - A deputy district commissioner in Mogadishu escaped death while two of his bodyguards died in an IED attack Saturday morning.

Kahda deputy district commissioner Abdinasir Hassan Ali was injured when the vehicle he was travelling in hit a landmine on a road near Hosh market located in Dharkenley district. Two of his bodyguards were killed following the deadly explosion which extensively damaged the pick-up truck they were travelling.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the militant group Al-Shabaab has conducted similar attacks targeting government and security officials.
