Galmudug’s Qoorqoor co-opts opposition in new cabinet lineup

DHUSAMREEB (HOL) - Newly elected Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye has unveiled a 23 member cabinet comprising of two women.

Vocal opposition politician and former national intelligence chief Ahmed Fiqi has been appointed security minister in a lineup that brings to Government at least ten opposition politicians.

Saabir Nuur Safiye also an opposition politician allied to the Union of Peace and Development (UPD) party will head the Ports portfolio.

Both Safiye and Fiqi are currently Federal MPs representing Galmudug constituencies.

The new lineup also includes two women- Ubah Hussein Dhiblawe in charge of Women Affairs and Sahro Olaad Abdi who becomes the minister in charge of Diaspora and Investment Promotion.

The appointment of opposition politicians signals a deal between the Federal Government allied faction lead by President Kariye aka Qoorqoor and the opposition side.

The new appointees now await parliamentary approval.
