DHUSAMAREB (HOL) - Communities in Galmudug have resolved to join hands in the
formation of an inclusive government, a resolution from the weeklong
reconciliation talks in Dhusamareb reads.
The conference which was formally closed by President
Mohamed Farmaajo Monday night agreed to set differences and support the
formation of a new government based on the aspirations of the people of
Galmudug.
“The clans agreed to jointly participate in the formation
regional government,” a communique from the meeting read in part.
The weeklong conference which follows long running political
battles in Galmudug also agreed to continue the reconciliation efforts to the
lowest levels of the state to ensure acceptable consultative process towards
stability and cohesion in the central Somalia state
“Formation of the regional government will be based on
mutual discussion, confidence, and will belong to all as the government will be
guided by regulations based on Sharia and the Constitution,” the meeting which
brought together representatives from various clans in Galmudug added.
Galmudug is preparing for elections of a new president
following the end of term for the current administration in July.
Galmudug has been plagued by political squabbling from
within and with the Federal Government. An IGAD brokered unity government came
to effect last December bringing incorporating Alhusuna Wal Jamaa which had
been in control of Dhusamareb into government.
The process of integration of Alhusuna militias midwifed by
Prime Minister Hassan Khaire has been ongoing but facing hurdles on terms of
agreement.
The communique also noted the Federal Government will
‘organise and implement the formation an inclusive government’.
