West Humber Collegiate social justice club students will help provide families in Somalia with clean water and personal hygiene kits.

As many as 60 of the Etobicoke high school students will team up with GlobalMedic, P&G and Walmart on the morning of May 22 at their Martin Grove Road high school with a goal to pack 2,000 family emergency kits.

GlobalMedic is a non-sectarian, humanitarian aid, non-governmental organization that provides emergency relief to people affected by natural disasters and complex emergencies.

P&G is a consumer goods company with a large portfolio of brands, including: Align, Always, Bounce, Charmin, Cheer, Head & Shoulders, Ivory, Mr. Clean, Olay, Oral-B, Pampers, Tide, Vicks and more.

To date, P&G has delivered 15 billion litres of water around the world, thanks to its easy-to-use water purification packet, the company stated. The purification packet can clean 10 litres of water in just 30 minutes.

P&G is on a mission to provide 25 billion litres of water globally in 2025.

The company has partnered with Walmart to launch a program wherein for any customer’s P&G purchase at Walmart from May 23 to June 19, P&G will donate one litre of clean drinking water to people in need.

In February, West Humber Collegiate social justice students partnered with GlobalMedic to pack more than 29,000 meals of mujaddara — a staple in Syria made with lentils and rice and topped with fried onions — for Syrian refugees displaced by conflict in their country.
