The authorities in Jubaland state dismissed claims that Ethiopian troops under the framework of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have taken over security in Kismayu from Kenyan forces.

Jubbaland state official who contacted Hiiraan Online said the port city is secured by the forces of the Jubaland state of Somalia.

"The information circulating in the media that Kenyan forces had handed over the security to Ethiopian troops is false" added the official

The remarks of the official came barely hours after Horn News24 reported that Ethiopian forces took control of Kismay security after Kenyan troops withdrew from the town.

Kismayo witnessed one of the deadliest militant attack for years which shuttered the relative peace and stability in the town.

A suicide bomber rammed a car containing explosives into the Asasey hotel in the port of Kismayo, and gunmen then stormed the building, killing at least 26 people.
