TORONTO (HOL) - The Minnesota Tigers were crowned winners of the 2019 Annual SomaliWeek Soccer Tournament beating Ottawa FC 3-2 in huge packed crowd in Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Canada
The annual summer tournament held in Toronto hosts teams from across the world. This year, more than 12 teams from Canada, USA, UK and Australaia attended the tournament.
The tournament is hosted by the Toronto Development Association of Youth (TODAY) and held at Centennial Park Stadium in Etobicoke, Toronto.
The tournament usually invites former Somali soccer legends from the past as well as honourary guests from the community for the closing ceremonies and trophy handout.
Somali Week’ was first held in Toronto back in the early 90’s by a group of Somali sportsmen who fled the civil war, including Somali soccer players Mukhtar Ute, Antar Jenyo and many others.
