MOGADISHU (Xinhua) -- Two people were injured in a car bombing attack near a popular restaurant in Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Monday, police said.
A police officer at the scene said a huge explosion went off near the Village Hotel and Restaurant in Hodan District, Banadir region after a bomb exploded from a private car which was parked near the hotel.
"I can confirm that two people were seriously injured after a car which had been parked near the popular hotel and restaurant exploded. There is no death so far," said the security officer who declined to be named.
Plumes of white smoke could be seen billowing into the air from the scene around the restaurant. Witnesses at the scene said several cars were damaged.
No group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack.
