National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to use diplomacy to resolve the border dispute between Kenya and Somalia.

“We want the President to use diplomacy at the AU, IGAD to resolve Kenya’s territorial dispute with Somalia. For us to change any territorial border, we need to go to a referendum,” he said.

His remarks come a week after it emerged that members of parliament were deliberating on whether the government should send military troops to the border of these nations to handle the matter.  The Kenyan leaders believe Somalia is not ready to cooperate in the fight to end the existent row and military force is the way to go this time around.

“So when you see him bring in motion, just know that is a government agenda and therefore it is clear it is the president seeking Parliament’s authority to deploy the military. There is no doubt about that,” said MP on condition of anonymity, as quoted by Capital FM.
