Al-Shabaab fighters kill two traders in Lower Shabelle region

Mogadishu (HOL) - Al-Shabaab fighters on Wednesday killed two traders in the Lower Shabelle region, barely a day after local fisherman were murdered.

According to locals, the two traders were transporting goods by an ox-cart before being captured by the militants in an area between Janale and Bufow towns.

The militants reportedly beheaded the traders after they accused the pair of supplying food to the government-controlled area.

Al-Shabaab had previously warned the traders against trading in areas controlled by the Somali government.

The Somali government has not yet commented on the incident.

The move comes a day after a local was killed and two others wounded in an Al-Shabaab attack.

The incident took place between Jilib-Marka and Gandarshe towns.
