Suspects in Idris Mukhtar attempted murder case to remain in custody

Wednesday September 19, 2018

Two accused persons charged with the attempted murder of former Garissa Finance Minister Idris Mukhtar will stay in remand till Wednesday, a court has ruled.

The two are Mohammed Hussein Aden and Juliet Charity Njoki.

A ruling on bail scheduled for Wednesday will be based on a probation report that will be tabled then.
The court was told that Njoki has two children who are living with their grandmother.

Further the prosecution has been told to respond to the first accused person’s affidavit filed by the wife.

Aden and Njoki are alleged to have committed the offence on August 19, 2018 at White Star restaurant along Kandara Road in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.

The two were further charged that on diverse dates between July 1 and August 27, 2018, at an unknown place within Nairobi County, they conspired with others not before court to kill Charles Njiru Kanjama, an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

The two denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The prosecution has objected to release of the accused persons on bail on grounds that their conspirators are yet to be arrested and may therefore interfere with investigations.
