27,000 High School students to sit national exams in Somalia

Over 27,000 secondary school students in Somalia will sit for their national examinations on Saturday, Education ministry confirmed.
 
The Somali government has been seeking to revive its education system since 2015 after years of a dysfunctional education system.
 
The exams will be conducted in 120 centres across the capital and four federal states – Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Southwest, and Jubbaland states.

Education Minister Abdirahman Dahir Osman Yarisow said that the students in different parts of the country will be doing their exams.
 
“27,600 students are ready to take the examinations, The exams are scheduled to kick off on Saturday,” Mr. Osman said, adding that “It shows the progress being made.”
 
Hundreds of Security forces will be deployed to 120 exam centres to enhance the security of the students and thwart. The ministry said over 2,500 invigilators and supervisors have been tasked to supervise the exams.
 
 Somalia administered centralized national examinations in 2015 for the first time in 25 years since the collapse of the government in 1991.
 
7,000 high school students drew from different schools across the nation did the exams of 2015. Last year, about 23,000 students sat for the exams.
