Saudi Arabia and UAE condemn Mogadishu bomb blast

Mogadishu (HOL)  -Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the terrorist bomb attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu that claimed the lives of 17 people.

In a statement on its website, the ministry said the government of Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting Somalia in the fight against the militants.

" The government reiterates its solidarity with and its stance by the side of the friendly Republic of Somalia against terrorism, " the statement said.

The ministry wished the victims of the barbaric attack quick recovery.

" We extend our condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Somalia and wish a quick recovery," Saudi sorrowed.

Meanwhile, the government of United Arab Emirates (UAE) lambasted the blast reiterating its principled rejection of violence and terrorism.

" The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms the UAE's solidarity with Somalia against violence and terrorism, calling the International Community to close ranks and collectively stand up against the resident evil of terrorism which threatens international peace and security," the statement of UAE said.

Yesterday's bomb attack which occurred near Wehliye Hotel was claimed by Al-Shabaab militants.

The group which declared its allegiance to Al-Qaida has been carrying deadly attacks the government and civilians since 2011 when it lost the control of Somali capital, Mogadishu.
