Car bomb blast kills one person in the Somali capital

Mogadishu (HOL) - At least one person has been killed when a car bomb went off in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

A car laden with explosives was detonated near a security checkpoint at KM4 area, shortly after Friday prayer.

According to witnesses, the blast killed one person suspected to be the driver of the car.

No group has yet claimed the responsibility for the explosion.

The government has not commented on the latest blast in the capital.

In recent days Al-Shabab militants have stepped up their bombing campaign.

On Wednesday night over five people were and six others injured when a landmine planted near San'a road junction exploded.
