Somali PM calls on Southwest leader to move his administration to Barawe (PHOTOS)

Somali prime minister, Hassan Ali Kheire has urged Southwest leader, Shariif Hassan to move the state administration to Barawe, the capital city of Southwest state.

During his Wednesday visit to Barawe, Kheire pledged support for Southwest government to relocate its administration in the coastal town.

"I ask President Shariif Hassan to move his administration to its capital, Barawe. My government will support Southwest government to make the relocation happen as soon as possible," said the prime minister while addressing residents of Barawe town.

Kheire held talks with local elders, army official and the local authorities in the town on wide range issue including security, jobs infrastructure, education and health.

Southwest administration currently uses  Baidoa town, 240km southwest of Mogadishu as interim capital.

Southwest leader, Shariif Hassan, Lower Shabelle governor, Ibrahim Najah, UN, AU and EU envoys were accompanying the premier during his tour.

Located some 220 Km (120 miles) South of Somali capital, Barawe town been had a supply route for weapons and food for Alshabaab militants till 2014 when Somali forces backed AMISOM troops flushed out the militants from the town.
