Somaliland Labour minister resigns and decamps from ruling party

Minister for Labour and social affairs of the breakaway Somaliland, Mohamed Osman Obsiiye has quitted  office and resigned from the membership of Kulmiye, the ruling party, citing dissatisfaction and the party mismanagement.

Obsiiye who was a member of the national campaigning committee prior his resignation has defected  from the ruling party which came as shock to many Kulmiye supporters as the poll gets closer.

Citing “unavoidable circumstances” as the reason for his departure, Obsiye said on Sunday “Kulmiye is not the political party it used to be, there is mismanagement, we asked for reform but nothing has been changed so far I therefore decided to resign as minister and decamp rather than misleading my people.”

The quitting has dealt a huge blow the outfit's forays in the breakaway region.

Somaliland whose elections have been postponed several times, will head the  ballot box on 13th November, 2017.

With over 870, 000 voters, the elections will take place 23 districts across the region.

Somaliland has declared unilateral independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991.

Despite restoring stability and governance, it’s efforts for an international recognition has not so far accomplished.
