The United States welcomes H.E. Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre’s announcement of the Council of Ministers and applauds the Prime Minister for his effort to create the government promptly to hasten the new administration’s ability to address the critical security and humanitarian challenges facing the country.
We urge Parliament to move quickly to confirm the nominees. The inclusion of six women and several minorities as Cabinet Ministers is welcome as a move towards a government more representative of the Somali people. The United States looks forward to working with the new government to create a peaceful and prosperous Somalia.
