Mogadishu (HOL) - A car bomb in southeast Mogadishu killed a school teacher and wounded two others on Wednesday.

Residents say they heard a loud explosion at around noon outside Bo’ale Market where they found the burnt-out remnants of a vehicle. The sole casualty from the car bombing was identified as Adan Goomey, a school teacher who taught at Halgan School. Two other passersby were injured in the explosion.

Those who knew him said he also worked with Dharkeynley district. There are reports circulating that he was moonlighting as an intelligence officer but they have not been confirmed by HOL.

District administrators are continuing their investigation but have said that attack may have been targeted. They evidence they gathered leads them to believe the vehicle that Mr. Goomey was travelling in, which he owned, was fitted with a car bomb under the front seat.

This is the latest in a string of car bomb attacks in Mogadishu and part of a wider pattern of targeted hits that have gripped the capital in recent weeks.

A soldier was also shot dead and disarmed yesterday in Dharkenley. On Monday, four soldiers were wounded in a car bomb explosion at Ex-Control Afgoye just outside out Mogadishu.
