Al-Shabaab fires motors on Villa Somalia

Mogadishu (HOL) - Al-Shabaab claimed that they fired a salvo of motor shells targeting Somalia's presidential palace in Mogadishu on Saturday.

Speaking from Al-Shabaab operated Radio Andulus, Sheikh Abdulaziz Abu Musab, the group's military spokesperson said that they have launched eight mortar shells targetting the presidential palace.

"Today we have attacked the Presidential Palace with 8 mortar shells, many of which have landed inside the compound".

Eyewitnesses report seeing several motor shells falling in an area near the palace in Wardhigley district.

No casualties have been so far reported.

The Somali government has not commented on the incident.
