Somali security Forces in Beledweyne on Saturday launched an overnight operation aimed to apprehend the perpetrators linked with a murder of two police officers, officials said.

The operations wrapped up Beledweyne’s major neighborhoods including Buunda-weyn and Hawlwadaag villages in an effort to capture suspects.

Residents said that operations pose traffic jams in the town as public transportation movements narrowly restricted in the early hours of Saturday.

The police have so far seized multiple suspects, recovering weapons during the raid. No further details were given to press.

Police presence has been increased to thwart terror attempts which militants could plan on more targets.

Regional level security commission was recently declared to bridge security gaps in the region as Somali militants stepped up its insurgency attacks against the Somali forces and the AU troops in the country.
