President Mohamud, who is on an official visit to Kenya, visited the Dadaab refugee camp on Monday, where he expressed reservations over the forceful repatriation of the refugees.

He however thanked Kenyans and the Kenyan government for hosting the refugees for over two decades.

On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta assured the Somali government of support in the fight against terrorism.

“Mine is just to assure you that Kenya will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Somalia, as we combat mutual threats to our peace and stability,” said Uhuru.

He reiterated that the Dadaab refugee camp will be closed due to security concerns.

The two sides failed to reach a conclusion and are expected to continue with the talks today (Wednesday).

Mohamud was accompanied by senior officials in his government.
