MOGADISHU (HOL) – At least five people were killed after armed Al-Shabab fighters stormed a beachfront restaurant in the Somali capital, setting off a car and blasted their way into the building,
officials said Thursday night.
The attackers armed with suicide vests and machine guns have reportedly forced their way into the Liido Seafood restaurant after opening fire on guests and guards before taking dozens of people
hostage.
Details about the siege remain scanty; however, security officials said that militants have taken positions inside the popular restaurant, security forces are trying to rescue people trapped inside and end the siege.
Al-Shabab claimed the responsibility for the attack.
