Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire’s guards have been withdrawn by government few days after refusing to stand in honour of soldiers who died early this year in Somalia.

Bosire caught the President’s eye during Thursday’s address to the nation when he deliberately defied an order by the Head of State to honour the fallen soldier by observing a minute of silence.

Speaking to the reporter on Saturday, the ODM legislator confirmed withdrawal of his guards and dismissed the act as ‘cowardice’ of the century.

“The government has withdrawn my two guards without any explanation. I haven’t seen them since Friday and this is really annoying,” Bosire said.

“It is an act of cowardice to take my guards away simply because I spoke my mind. I was elected by constituents and doing that to me means disrespecting them. The government must desist from intimidating opposition,” he added.

He said the withdrawal will not affect his execution of responsibilities and vowed to remain steady in the opposition to push for societal changes in the country.

“I have fought many wars and my God will always be there for me. I will remain steady in opposition and work hard to defeat this government of political destitute. My quest for a better Kenya is stronger than ever,” he said.

Bosire gets to a long list of opposition leaders who have lost guards following disagreement with the government, the list which is topped by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
