MOGADISHU (HOL) - Eight members of the Al-Qaeda linked militants group in Somalia were killed in a suspected U.S drone strike in southern Somalia, according to intelligence officials, the latest attack targeting the group which is seen as a major security to the east African nations.
The strike which occurred in Baladul-Amin, a small rural village in Lower Shabelle region targeted a military camp run by Al-Shabab on midnight Saturday, killing eight militants including senior
commanders, according to officials.
The US government hasn't so far commented on the attack as it carried out numereous attacks targetting Al-Shabab's leaders before. A US drone has killed the group's leader Ahmed Abdi Godane last year.
