Mr. Salad represented Somalia in the 141st Arab league foreign ministers’ meeting that recently ended in Cairo. He said that a communique issued from the Arab league meeting suggested that Arab states were fully committed to supporting Somali government’s plans to restore peace and stability into the country.
“We requested the Arab league to help in the reconstruction of the country and as well as equipping and training Somali forces—The ministerial level Arab league meeting showed a huge support for Somalia” Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad told journalists at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle international airport on Friday.
“During my presence at the meeting I met with the Arab league secretary General Dr. Nabil El Araby, I invited him to come to Mogadishu and he promised to come sometime by the end of April” the deputy minister told Friday’s press conference.

The deputy foreign minister added that whilst in Cairo he also met with members from the Somali community in Egypt where he briefed them on the current situation in the country and his government’s strategy to restore law and order into the country.
The ministerial level meeting paved the way for the upcoming Arab league summit scheduled in Kuwait city on 25-26 March.
