Unidentified assailants have shot and killed the chief of a local aid organization in the city of Galkayo about 750 kilometres north of the capital Mogadishu last night, eye witnesses confirmed.
The killing took place in the Garsoor neighbourhood west of the city before midnight. Galkayo has a bloody history of assassinations of its both public and private officials due to the lack of security.
The slain man identified as Abdi Mohamed Aden popularly known as Abdi Dhere was attacked by several men armed with pistols who killed him on the spot.
No group has yet claimed responsibility of the latest assassination.

The death of Abdi Mohamed Aden was confirmed to HOL by colleague staff members who demanded anonymity for fear of their security.
