Mogadishu  (HOL) - Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Mohamed Ali Nur (Ameeriko) , who returned home on Sunday after the government recalled him, is expected to address the parliament sometime this week.

Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Sheikh Osmaan Jawaari, told  the  parliament that  the diplomat is expected to come to the parliament to inform the MPs about the incident involving the Counsellor and the general  situation of the Somali community in Kenya.  The Ambassador, Mohamed Ali Nur (Ameeriko) will also speak about the circumstances that led to the arrest of the Counsellor at the Somali Embassy in Kenya, on Friday.

“It is important for the Somali Lawmakers to hear first hand information on the detention of the Somali Counsellor, Siyad Mohamud Shire,  as well as  general information concerning the  situation of the Somali community in Kenya, directly from our Ambassador to Kenya, who is at present in Mogadishu”, said Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari.

He added that the Parliament meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday. However, he made no mention when the Ambassador is expected to face the Parliamentarians.

On Sunday, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Ameeriko) arrived in Mogadishu after he was recalled by the Foreign Ministry for consultation following the detention of the Counsellor of the Somali Embassy in Kenya, Siyad Mahmoud Shire, by Kenya’s Security Officers for several hours in a Nairobi Police Station on Friday.

“He showed his Diplomatic ID Card  to the Police Officers and told them that  he was the Counsellor of the Somali Embassy in Nairobi. But the Officers ignored his statement and took him on armoured car to Police custody where he was detained for several hours”, Ambassador Ameeriko said in an interview with VOA Somali Service on Sunday.
