SOME 41 suspects arrested in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate over allegations of planning a crime have been released on bail.

The youths were being held in police custody awaiting the verification of their identities and nationalities.

Yesterday, prosecutor Noah Chemweno told the court that the investigations had been conducted and the names of the accused verified to be correct.

Magistrate Kiarie Waweru released them on a bond of Sh200,000 each with a surety of a similar amount.

The 41 were charged of being in Kenya illegally and planning crime in a swoop on November 8. They all denied the charges.

According to the prosecution, the crackdown was aimed at ridding the estate of illegal immigrants especially from Somalia.

Crime rate in the estate is alarming and police have been on high alert since the terror attack on Westgate Mall that left more than 70 people dead.

The case will be mentioned on November 29.
