CARDIFF South and Penarth MP Stephen Doughty welcomed Foreign Office
Minister for Africa, Mark Simmonds MP to Cardiff last month to meet with
representatives from the local Somali and Somaliland community.
The meeting gave them a chance to talk to the Minister, and voice
their views on the community in the city, life in modern Britain, and
what support can be offered to communities back in Somaliland and
Somalia.
Mr Doughty MP said: "We had a lively discussion on a range of issues, and appreciate the Minister making the time to attend."
The outreach session comes ahead of an international conference on
Somalia in London on May 7, which aims to provide international support
for the Government of Somalia as they rebuild their country after two
decades of conflict.
