Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon visited Dhusamareb on Monday (March 4th) to address residents on what his administration has done since its formation in November, Radio Mogadishu reported.
"I thank the people of Dusamareeb and Galgadud for my warm welcome today [and] I congratulate them for their victory over the enemies of peace," Shirdon posted on Twitter.
Even though most of Dhusamareb and Galgadud have been controlled by government-allied forces since last year, residents have suffered sporadic attacks from al-Shabaab.
Hundreds of Somali and African Union Mission in Somalia troops stationed in Beledweyne were dispatched to Dhusamareb and Guriel in advance of Shirdon's visit, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
